The Soaplady

hopefully a humourous look at living on Lewis, making soap, and keeping cats and muscovy ducks

Linda, The Soaplady …

Hello, I’m Linda, and I’ve been living on Lewis for almost ten years now …

Originally a Sheffield ‘yellow-belly’, I did my degree in Psychology at Nottingham University, as a mature student.

I have been a bank clerk, timber merchant pricer, general nurse, accounts and payroll clerk, and finally a computer programmer in my life before I moved to Lewis.

There being no mainframe computers on the island, I decided I would expand my hobby into production, and started the Hebridean Soap Company Ltd.

Check out our website at www.HebrideanSoap.co.uk

My new Visitor Centre opened for the first time last year (2007), and has proved popular with Visitors to the island and local folk.

During the summer, anyone who is interested can get The Grand Tour of the workshop, and watch the soap being made, moulded, cut or wrapped …

More to come …

I can thoroughly recommend Linda’s ‘Grand Tour’ of the workshop. Entertaining, informative and personal. Perfect.
